Future Group is contemplating retailing its private brands like Tasty Treat, Clean Mate, Fresh & Pure and Sach through channels other than its own stores of Big Bazaar and KB's Fair Price.

"Right now our private brands are sold only in Future Group owned formats but we will look at retailing private brands in future," Food Bazaar CEO Devendra Chawla told PTI.

Chawla said these private brands are very strong but he refused to share financial numbers.

"In FMCG, our private brands have 15-20% market share and in home and cleaning, our private brands have 30-35% market share. It is a sizeable business for us," he said.

Talking about the need for private brands, Chawla said: "We push our private brands not just for higher margins, India is under-branded and there is need and space for more brands."

Future Group roped in cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and co-created brand 'Sach'. Sach brand products include toothpaste, toothbrush and bathing bars.

Tasty Treat brand includes corn flakes ketchups and jams. Fresh & Pure sells desi ghee.

Future Retail Ltd, which includes Big Bazaar, Food Bazaar,

Home Town and private brands, demerged its fashion business in November 2012 and formed a new company called Future Lifestyle Fashions (FLFL). FLFL has a portfolio of over two dozen fashion and lifestyle brands.
