Union Minister for Transport and Shipping Nitin Gadkari and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will participate in an event to mark the maiden International Yoga Day (IYD) in the city on June 21.

Fadanvis and Gadkari with other leaders will participate in the mega event at Yeshwant Stadium organised jointly by Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Janardan Swami Yogabhasi Mandal and other organisations, city Mayor Praveen Datke, told PTI.

Fadanvis will later proceed to the Central Prison, here on Wardha Road and will perform Yoga with a select group of about 100 inmates, an official in the CMO said.

The civic body was making elaborate arrangement for the event. All the BJP Legislators, Corporators, Municipal Council and ZP Members are expected to participate in the mega event, Datke said.

Various religious, cultural, social, educational and other organisations are also gearing to celebrate the International Yoga Day.

However, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat will not be in Nagpur on Sunday, which is the 75th birth anniversary of RSS founder Keshav Baiiram Hedgewar, as he will be in Varanasi, official sources said today.
