Addressing party workers near city airport, Gadkari who arrived here for the first time after demitting office, today alleged that a conspiracy was being hatched to defame him.

Stating that Congress is bound to lose power in next general elections, he further said, "Congress after controlling CBI is now laying hands on I-T and slapped notices to disturb me. Sonia and Chidambaram (Finance Minister) will not be able to save you (officials)."

Claiming innocence in the Purti case deals, Gadkari alleged that Congress was "using IT to corner him" and said he would "expose the Delhi leadership" soon.

Continuing his tirade against Congress without taking names, Gadkari said, "ek malkin baki sab naukar" (one master and rest of them are servants).

On Tuesday, Income-tax department had launched on-field inquiries at around nine locations in Mumbai belonging to alleged shell companies related to Gadkari's Purti group. The department has been probing various firms that invested in the leader's company Purti Power and Sugar Limited (PPSL).
