Baroda Cricket Association President Samarjeetsinh Gaekwad today did not allow the taking up of the motion of removal of four members from the managing committee at its meeting held here.

A motion demanding removal of four members including BCA and BCCI Secretary Sanjay Patel, Anand Rao, Hemant Chokshi and Kaushik Bhatt from the managing committee was submitted to Gaekwad for its inclusion on the agenda of the meeting held here.

Rejecting the demand, Gaekwad, who presided over the meeting, ruled that as per constitution of the BCA, decision on such issue can be taken by the Special General Body meeting of the association.

He remained firm in his ruling despite the rival group headed by Chirayu Amin, former president of the BCA, raising the demand in the meeting that lasted for about three hours.

Rao, Bhatt and Chokshi were included in the managing committee while Patel was elected as secretary in BCA polls held in December last and became member of the managing committee.

Mohan Karlekar and Ajit Lele, son of former BCA and BCCI secretary Jaywant Lele, two members of the general body of the BCA had raised an objection, saying that none of the the four 'co-opted' members met the required criteria. Both of them conveyed the same in writing to the managing committee.

After taking cognisance of their objections, the managing committee of BCA had sought legal opinion. Experts had pointed out that Karlekar and Lele were right and that the managing committee must reverse its decision.

Consequently, a section of the managing committee also pointed out that Patel had become an office bearer without completing a full term on a sub-committee. Legal opinion was sought once again and the managing committee was told that he be asked to resign from the post of secretary.
