Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot today ordered the transport commissioner to ensure all types of driving licence issued by the department were renewed with biometric information and equipped with smart chips.
In a letter to the transport commissioner, Gahlot said he has learnt that motor licencing officers (MLOs) were refusing to renew old licences that are without smart chips.
The old licences were issued prior to 1999.
