:The Vaiko led four party People's Welfare Front today said laying of pipelines by Gas Authority of India and the Avanashi-Athikadavu water scheme would have a serious impact on the outcome of the coming assembly elections in the farmer-dominated western region.

Blaming both DMK and AIADMK for their failure in solving the issue, PWF leader and former CPI(M) MP P R Natarajan said the farming community in the region, particularly Coimbatore, Tirupur and Erode Districts was against both parties and would teach them a lessor at the hustings.

The front which is in forefront in the poll campaign and also releasing the common manifesto, would highlight the 'failure' of both parties and come up as an alternative to capture power, he said.

In the third phase of the campaign, front leaders Vaiko of MDMK, Thirumavalavan of VCK, Mutharasan of CPI and G Ramakrishnan of CPIM, would share the platform of a public meeting arranged here on February 20, R R Mohankumar, MDMK District Urban secretary, said.

Natarajan alleged that the administration has totally failed to solve ongoing problems and strike by Powerloom job work unit owners, Tamil Nadu Government Employees Association and also hunger strike on Avanashi-Athikkadavu Groundwater Recharge Scheme, which will have a bearing on the poll results.

Asked about the confidence of capturing power, he said Front coordinator Vaiko had made it clear that 65 per cent of the total electorate was non-committed and it was this section the front was targeting.
