Gail shares jump over 5% as board to consider bonus issue

Shares of Gail today surged over 5 per cent ahead of the company's board meeting next week to consider issuance of bonus shares and fund raising.

The stock moved up by 5.31 per cent to end at Rs 462.70 on BSE. During the day, it jumped 5.78 per cent to Rs 464.75 -- its 52-week high.

On NSE, it advanced by 5 per cent to close at Rs 461.65.

The company's market valuation rose by Rs 2,962.45 crore to Rs 58,692.45 crore.

The stock was the top gainer among Sensex and Nifty components.

On the volume front, 8.21 lakh shares of the company were traded on BSE and over 72 lakh shares changed hands at NSE during the day.
 

Gail (India) Ltd has informed BSE that a meeting of the Board of Directors of the company is scheduled on January 25, 2017, inter alia, to consider issuance of bonus shares and fund raising by issuance of bonds on private placement basis.
