Gajraj Corps celebrate Vijay Diwas

Army's Gajraj Corps (4 Corps) celebrated Vijay Diwas in Assam's Tezpur today to commemorate the victory of the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971.

Gajraj Corps GOC Lt Gen Sarath Chand laid a wreath at the War Memorial, a Defence press release said here.

On the occasion, the General highlighted the role of the gallant soldiers in achieving major military victory and exhorted all ranks to rededicate themselves in the service of nation and emulate our war veterans and martyrs who have brought glory to our prestigious profession.

A large number of Officers, JCOs and Jawans of Tezpur Garrison participated and paid homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives in 1971 India-Pak War.
 

The Gajraj Corps had played a pivotal role in the 1971 Indo-Pak War for the liberation of Bangladesh and it very proficiently carried out its task in the most complex Sector in terms of distances from the logistic bases and exceedingly extended lines of communication, the release added.
