Galikonda area committee Maoist arrested by AP police

A member of Communist Party of India (Maoist) Galikonda area committee was arrested at G K Veedhi in the agency area here today, after a tip-off.

According to the police, Maoist insurgent G Subba Rao (41) was a native of Annavaram village under Koyyuru police station limits and he was allegedly involved in various offences including setting afire road laying equipment and machinery and vehicles under G K Veedhi police station limits.

Subba Rao joined the Maoist party around eight years ago, worked as a dalam member and was actively involved in violent Maoist activities for the past few years.
 

Meanwhile, in Vizianagaram district, police arrested two Maoist militia members, Gochekka Thadangi Bangru (30) and Thadangi Bheemayya (21), when they were traveling on a bike, during routine vehicle checks.

Police alleged the duo were involved in various offences including supporting Left-Wing Extremists and violent activities, besides attending Maoist meetings along Andhra-Odisha border and allegedly damaging cellular phone towers.
