The curator of the Galle International Cricket stadium has been suspended ahead of next week's first cricket Test between Sri Lanka and the West Indies.

Warnaweera, a former Test medium-pacer, had failed to turn up yesterday for a match-fixing investigation conducted by the ICC Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ASCU).

"We have relieved him of the curator's role for the first Test," Sidath Wettimuny, the chairman of Sri Lanka Cricket interm committee said today.

Warnaweera headed the Galle stadium continuously for over 10 years.

His name is said to have been linked to a 2006 match- fixing inquiry. Two ASCU investigators are in Colombo for the inquiry.

The ICC has instructed SLC to keep Warnaweera away from cricket administration until the conclusion of the investigation.

The first Test against the West Indies begins in next Wednesday.
