West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today left the city for New Delhi to attend a meeting of the national committee set up to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair tomorrow's meeting of the national committee, where all chief ministers and representatives from across the political spectrum have been invited to plan the grand Gandhi Jayanti next year.

Banerjee went to the NSCBI Airport here after attending the oath-taking ceremony of the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court.

It is not known if Banerjee will hold meetings with other chief ministers or national leaders during her stay in New Delhi.

Banerjee, also Trinamool Congress supremo, has raised protests against the Modi government's policies and sought to form of a federal front against the saffron party before the Lok Sabha elections in 2019.
