Gang accused of looting trucks after killing drivers busted

The gang members have confessed their involvement in seven cases of murder and robbery, DIG (Kanpur), Amitabh Yash said.

Revealing the modus operandi of the accused, DIG said, "By offering truck drivers higher fares than normal, the gang would lure them to hire their vehicles on rent. While en-route, they would offer the drivers large volume of alcohol and kill them afterwards."

"The accused would then steal the truck and sell its parts in the market after dissembling the vehicle. On some occasion, they had also sold the vehicles on fake registration documents of the stolen vehicles", said Yash.

Besides, spare parts and forged registration documents of several trucks stolen by the gang, police have also recovered a country made pistol and live cartridges from the arrested gang members, DIG said.

 

Five members of the gang- Raju alias Rajinder Singh, Amit alias Sonu, Ravi Kumar, Neelu alias Aashish and Md Nafees , were arrested by the police today while two others- Manoj and Vinay Katiyar ran away, DIG said, adding, further investigations are on.
