A five-member armed gang allegedly decamped with Rs 4.7 lakh cash from a women's self help group society office at Kattumannarkovil village in the district early today, police said.
The masked gang barged into the office, brandished a pistol and knives and threatened the six women staff to part with the money kept in an almirah, they said.
They escaped on three motorcycles, police said, adding a hunt was on to nab them.
