With the arrest of four persons, including two women, from east Delhi's Jagatpuri area, Delhi police have busted a gang which allegedly honeytrapped men and extorted money from them, police said today.

"The accused, identified as Amarjeet Singh (52), Rahul Sharma (23) and the two women aged between 30-35 years, were operating an extortion gang. They used one of the two women to honeytrap men and then extort money from them," DCP (East) B S Gurjar said.

Their activities came into notice when a person filed a complaint in Jagatpuri Police station that he was honeytrapped and later extorted by a gang on Monday, police said.

According to police, the complainant was repeatedly contacted by a woman on the pretext of friendship. Later, when they planned to meet, he was taken by the caller (the woman) to a flat in east Delhi's Ram Nagar area where they got physically intimate.

Soon, two men, who claimed to be policemen, appeared there and allegedly took nude pictures of the complainant. They also allegedly thrashed him and threatened to frame him in a rape case.

They demanded Rs 3 lakh from the complainant, which later was settled at Rs 50,000, and confiscated his car with the condition of returning it only after receiving the money.

"A special team of police laid a trap and caught Amarjeet Singh while receiving the extortion money from the complainant, and later his other associates, including the caller and the other woman, were arrested," police said.

Police have recovered a country-made pistol, a baseball bat and a leather belt of the complainant from the possession of the accused, police said.

Police have filed an FIR against them and searches are on to trace their other absconding associates, police said.
