The Patna SSP said the gang specialised in cattle theft and robbing vehicles moving on the highways across the district.
"We got intelligence inputs about the movement of the gang and discovered that it was again planning to commit some crime on the route to Naubatpur. We formed a special team to nab them. They dressed as villagers and started moving in the area on a tractor," said Maharaj.
"The gang was lying in ambush at a deserted place and attacked the tractor thinking it was being driven by some villagers. They were immediately overpowered and arrested," he added.
The SSP also said the gang used to sell stolen cattle and robbed goods in West Bengal, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh.
