Gang members arrested, mobiles recovered

A gang which used to cheat innocent people while performing tricks on streets with snakes has been busted with the arrest of three men, police said today.

Police has also recovered two robbed mobile phones from the accused who have been identified as Aslam (35), Hasmuddin (37) and Sherun (27). They were arrested by the staff of Vasant Kunj North Police station.

"On April 20, information was received about the movements of a robber involved in a robbery case of Vasant Kunj North in Chandni Chowk area. A police team swung into action, laid a trap and arrested Sherun," said a senior police official.
 

One robbed mobile phone was recovered from his possession. During interrogation, Sherun confessed to have robbed that mobile phone from Mahipalpur, New Delhi, along with his associates Hasmuddin and Aslam.

On Sherun's instance, his associates Hasmuddin and Aslam were also arrested from Ghaziabad, UP and one more robbed mobile phone was recovered from the possession of Hasmuddin, police said.

"During further interrogation, it was revealed that accused persons used to play tricks on streets with help of snakes and befool innocent people. During playing tricks, they would identify a soft target and cheat him of his wrist watch, cash, mobile, gold ring, chain, etc," the official said.

The accused allegedly also disclosed to have cheated various people by adopting similar modus operandi in Delhi, Haryana, UP, Rajasthan and even in Jammu. Further investigation is in progress to verify their other involvements.
