Gang of 4 drug peddlers held, contraband worth Rs 1 cr seized

Delhi Police today claimed to have busted a gang of drug traffickers with the arrest of four members of the gang including a woman in separate operations.

Police also recovered contraband worth around Rs one crore in international market from the accused, said Ravindra Yadav, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime).

Cops from the narcotics cell of Crime Branch recovered 300 grams of premium quality heroin and 80 kg of marijuana, he said.

The arrested accused included Mohammad Israel, Mohammad Dastgir, Rani and Shakil Khan. They worked as drug peddlers and used to bring the contraband from other cities, he said.
 

The cops arrested Israel and Dastgir on specific input, from a flyover in Paharganj area. The duo were going to JJ Colony in Sadar Bazar to hand over the contraband to another person and 35 kg of marijuana was recovered from their possession.

Rani was arrested next, from Bawana in northwest Delhi, and recovered 300 gm of premium quality heroin from her, Yadav said.

The cops caught Shakil Khan from Uttam Nagar in the third operation and retrieved 45 kg of marijuana from him.

During interrogation, Israel and Dastgir revealed that they were bringing marijuana from Visakhapatnam.
