Eight persons, including two juveniles, who were part of a highway robbery gang were arrested here today, days ahead of the Durga puja festival, police said.
One pistol, four motor-cycles and around Rs 60,000 cash were seized from the arrested persons who were involved in loot and highway robbery, said Deputy Commissioner of Police, Satyabrat Bhoi.
Acting on a tip off, police swung into action and nabbed eight members of the gang operating in different places including Bhubaneswar, Jajpur, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj, police said adding efforts are on to nab the other members of the gang.

The gang is also involved in snatching cash and other valuables from people and a number of cases are pending against them, police said.
The arrests were made ahead of Durga puja and Dussehra festivals when members of such criminal outfits tend to become very active and target people in crowded pandals, they added.
