The Crime Branch of Delhi Police today claimed to have busted a gang of robbers involved in several armed cash robberies and recovered three firearms and as many motorcycles from their possession.

The arrested have been identified as Kanhaie (24 years), Bharat Kumar Goswami (23) and Azad (28), officials said.

According to police, all three accused have confessed to committing armed robberies at various places in Delhi.

Police said they had on June 30 robbed a man of Rs 2.64 lakh near foot overbridge in Tis Hazari.

In the last few months, some other armed robberies were reported in various parts of Delhi, a police official said, adding that in view of this, a team was constituted under supervision of ACP (central range) Sandeep Lamba.

Acting on a tip-off, the team apprehended all the three accused yesterday near the Red Fort.

"During investigation it emerged that the gang used to operate on the information provided by one Jeetu. Jeetu used to track persons carrying cash from Old Delhi area to various locations and pass this information to Kanhai.

"In turn, Kanhai would plan and execute the robbery along with his associates. Their associates Jeetu and Sanjeet are still at large," a senior police official said.
