Gang of robbers busted in Punjab; 5 held

With the arrest of five persons here, police today claimed to have busted an alleged gang of robbers involved in several cases.

Ramesh Kumar of Badshapur village in Sangrur district is the kingpin of the gang, 'Kala Dhanaula'. He is involved in several cases of murder, dacoity and other offences, police said.

Another member of the gang, Balkar Singh, is a 'proclaimed offender' and wanted by police in a case of attempt to murder and cases under the Arms Act, police said.

He is a resident of Sohian Kalan village in Sangrur district.

The other members of the gang were identified as Jaspal Singh of Ballamgarh village, Baljit Singh Ladi of Badbar village and Dharminder Singh of Sahoke village. All the three villages are also in Sangrur district.
 

The police claimed to have arrested the gang members while they were planning to carry out a robbery .

Four country-made pistols and 30 live cartridges were seized from them, police said.

A case under various sections of the IPC has been registered against them.
