Delhi Police today busted a gang of robbers who targeted foreign exchange currency firms and recovered Rs 4.45 lakh cash from them.
According to police, Vijay Vihar police station had received a complaint on January 19 regarding a cash delivery agent of a foreign exchange currency firm being robbed of Rs 5.20 lakh from a house in Sector-5, Rohini.
"One Deepak, working as a cash delivery agent for a foreign exchange firm, was robbed. On enquiry, it was found that the firm had received a call from a girl saying that she wanted 8600 USD in exchange of Indian currency.

"The company had in the recent past done transactions at the same address but for much smaller amounts. The firm had sent its agent Deepak with the cash. When he reached, the girl invited him inside when two boys, one of them carrying a pistol, overpowered him," a police official said.
The accused then tied him to a chair and fled away with the cash. They also sent an SMS to the firm owner saying 'tera aadmi loot liya' (we have robbed your man), he added.
As police started probe into the matter, they found out that this was second incident within a span of two months in the same district.
Police first apprehended one Samir who initially tried to mislead the team but on sustained interrogation, he disclosed all information about his accomplices following which the other two, including a woman, were also arrested.
The accused, who had taken a small apartment on rent, used to call foreign exchange brokers in the near vicinity and cheat them in similar fashion.
