Gang of snatchers busted, 2 arrested

Police today claimed to have busted a gang of snatchers with the arrest of its two members active in northwest and outer Delhi, a crime branch official said today.

Vikram, a resident of Mangol Puri and Badi, a resident of Budh Vihar, were wanted in several snatching and robbery cases, he said.

"Acting on a tip off, police laid a trap and arrested the duo from Jheelwala Park in Rohini area yesterday where they had gathered to dispose off the robbed jewellery.

"Police have also arrested third person, identified as Dalit, who had come to purchase stolen jewellery from them," he said, adding police have recovered three gold chains and a bike used in various crimes, from them.
 

"Vikram has earlier been involved in over 103 cases of snatching, burglary, drug peddling, illegal firearms and assault on police officers. He along with his gang members had shifted their base from Delhi to Alwar and Khetli (Rajasthan) and Nangal (Punjab). They used to come to Delhi to commit crime," he said.
