Gang of vehicle-lifters busted, two held

Police today claimed to have busted a gang of vehicle-lifters with the arrest of two of its members active in Delhi and its neighbouring areas.

The duo, identified as Ishtkar and Sadik, were arrested from Vijay Nagar area last night based on a tip-off.

"We got a tip-off stating that two vehicle-lifters were coming towards Vijay Nagar area. Police laid a trap and arrested the duo. They were involved in several vehicle theft cases," a police officer said.

According to police, Ishtkar and Sadik, residents of Meerut and Ghaziabad respectively, had a master key through which they would steal bikes and sell them in different cities by removing their number plates.
 

Apart from the national capital, the gang was active in Noida, Ghaziabad and Meerut, they said.

Police had been looking for both the accused for a long time. They are being interrogated about the hideouts of their accomplices, the officer said.
