Gang printing counterfeit currency busted, eight held

The police claimed to have busted a gang allegedly involved in printing counterfeit currency notes and arrested eight persons from Chikkadpalli here today.

Based on credible information, Dundigal police raided a house in Chikkadpalli and nabbed Kranthi Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Naga Murali and five others who were allegedly printing fake currency notes by using printers, scanners and other equipments, the police said.

Police seized counterfeit currency worth Rs 23,500 from the accused, a senior police officer said, adding that they had printed fake currency in the Rs 500 denomination, amounting to Rs 30,000.

The trio, aged around 21, are college drop-outs who joined hands with five others to print fake currency notes and circulate them, the police said.
