With the arrest of its six persons, including five traders here, police today busted an inter-state gang that stole goods from moving trucks, an official said.

The accused were identified as Arban Kanjar, Pradeep Madhwani, Abdul Wajid, Rahul Lalwani, Amir and Salman, who were arrested on a tip-off, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Harinarayanachari Mishra said.

Except Arban, all the other accused are traders, who used to purchase the stolen goods.

"Arban used to steal the goods from the moving trucks by cutting the tarpaulin (cover) laid to hide the consignment. Arban's accomplices would drive vehicles in front of and behind the moving truck and steal the goods without the knowledge of truck drivers," he said.

During the interrogation, Arban admitted that he and his accomplices used to steal goods from the moving trucks in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Rajasthan apart from Madhya Pradesh, Mishra said.

The DIG said that valuables worth Rs 85 lakh, including expensive mobile phones and clothes, have been recovered from the accused. The stolen goods was hidden in rented godowns at different locations of Indore, police said.
