Press Trust of India Puducherry
An unidentified gang waylaid a

Chennai based scribe near the government general hospital here and made an unsuccessful bid to relieve him of his mobile phone and the two wheeler he was riding on, while he was on his way home from office.

Prasad, reporter of Deccan Chronicle, alleged that the gangsters on four morotcycles last night followed him and intercepted him using abusive language. One of them tried to seize his mobile phone when he was about to contact his colleague for help. They were joined by two more youths later and one of them forcibly took away the scribe's motor cycle after threatening him, he said.

A friend of the scribe who was riding through the spot found him in trouble and gave him lift in his vehicle to give a chase to the person who had driven away the motorcycle of the scribe. After riding a few metres, the gang left behind the two wheeler and the scribe took back his vehicle and returned home in panic.

Prasad told PTI that he had lodged a complaint with the police today. As the area lacked proper lighting he could not notice the register number of the gangsters' two wheelers used in the incident.
