Gangai Amaran selected for Harivarasnam award

Renowned singer and music director Gangai Amaran has been selected for Kerala's prestigious Harivarasanam award-2017, in recognition of his contribution to religious harmony and national integration.

The award would be presented to Amaran by State Minister for Tourism and Devaswom Kadakampally Surendran at a function to be held at Sabarimala on January 14, a release said here today.

The award was instituted by the government under the auspices of Sabarimala Lord Ayyappa temple to confer on those individuals who contributed immensely to religious harmony and national integration.

The award carries a cash purse of Rs one lakh and a citation.
