A notorious gangster, who was wanted in several criminal cases including murder, was today nabbed by city police.
Sandeep Singh alias Sunny was arrested when he was going towards village Dhanas here in a car to allegedly kill a city-based jeweler, police said.
Acting on a tip off, a team of police led by inspector Amanjot Singh laid a 'naka' near Dhanas bridge and signaled gangster to stop.

However, he took his pistol and aimed at cops. But he was overpowered by Head Constable Durjan Singh and Constable Daulat Ram. A pistol and file live cartridges were recovered from his possession, police said.
Sandeep had escaped from the custody of Haryana police while they were taking him back after producing him in District Court Mohali here on October 11 this year.
Investigation conducted by police disclosed that the accused also wanted to kill Sub Inspector Om Parkash who had arrested him in a dacoity case.
Police said he was addicted to taking sleeping pills and could carry out major criminal activity under the influence of tablets.
During the questioning, he also confessed that he befooled several police officials of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh and took money from them on the pretext of give information about the gangsters and other heinous crimes which has occurred in their jurisdictions.
He also confessed to having extort money from several jewelers by posing as SP, police claimed.
