The magistrate's court here last month had granted bail to Shetty in two cases. In the first case, Shetty is accused of staying illegally in Bangkok on a bogus passport; the accusation in the second is that he helped his accomplice Badresh Shah to obtain a fake passport.

The magistrate had directed Shetty to furnish surety within 15 days, but he could not do so, as a result of which the bail was cancelled, a police officer said.

Last month the crime branch filed a chargesheet against him in a kidnapping case.

Shetty, arrested in August 2011 from Bangkok, was wanted in at least 15 cases, including contract killings and drug smuggling.

He separated from Chhota Rajan in 2004, and formed his own gang. He was earlier lodged in Nashik jail after his conviction in a drug-related case, but fled to Bangkok after being released on parole.
