Excise enforcement officials seized 200 kg of ganja from two cars and arrested five drug smugglers near Guttulaput area, under Paderu mandal in the Vizag agency today.
According to excise enforcement officials, smugglers procured the contraband from various parts of Paderu and Pedabayalu in the Vizag agency. They were transporting it to Tamil Nadu in two cars, which were following two smugglers on bikes.
Acting on a tip-off, officials intercepted the bikes and cars near Guttulaput and seized around 200 kg of the narcotic substance. The bikes and cars were confiscated.
The seized contraband was worth around Rs 15 lakh and the smugglers were arrested under Section 20 (B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
