City-based maintenance services start-up Gapoon Online Consumer Services Private Limited aims to provide cleaning and pest control services to 125 city restaurants by March 2018 under its "Swachh Bharat" campaign.

"We have reached out to about 75 restaurants in the past one year under our Swachhh Bharat campaign to provide cleaning and pest control services to them. We aim to render this service to as many as 125 restaurants by March 2018," Gapoon CEO Apoorva Mishra told PTI here.

"We were inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's slogan "Swachh Bharat" campaign and hence we decided to initiate the Swachh Bharat campaign in our own way," he said.

Founded in 2015 by IIT Kanpur graduates Mishra, Ankita Asai, Ankit Bindal and Nikhil Gupta from IIT Delhi, Gapoon is a one-stop shop for maintenance services.

Ankita Asai said Gapoon is providing the service to restaurants under its Swachh Bharat campaign at a subscription rate ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 16 lakh per annum.

Mishra said 55 per cent of revenue is from subscription, of which 85 per cent is from the B2B segment.

It also operates on an on-demand basis for handymen services like plumbing, electrical, deep cleaning, pest control and mason, among other things.

Ankita said restaurants have more requirement for a subscription than homes because they have Food Safety And Standards Authority of India guidelines to follow, which directs them to maintain a record of their periodic cleaning.

Recently,Gapoon raised USD 2,50,000 in a 'pre-series A' round, which will be used for new initiatives towards product and technology enhancements.

The investment is led by Vida Ventures and other independent and seasoned investors, including Snehal Mantri, Anshu Bahadur, Partner at Cognizant.
