Sudhir Damodar Dudhe (47), a garden superintendent with Nagpur Improvement Trust, had demanded a bribe from contractor Altaf Ahmad, who had won a contract worth Rs two crores for maintaining greenery along roadsides and beautification of road dividers, police said.
His bills worth Rs 32.20 lakhs were pending before Dudhe, who allegedly demanded 10 per cent of the amount as bribe to process the documents.
Ahmad complained to the ACB, which laid a trap and first caught Dudhe's assistant Jaiprakash Gulabchand Yadav (42) last night while accepting the money.
Later, when Yadav was handing over the amount to Dudhe at his residence in Pratap Nagar area, the latter was also nabbed, police said.
