Gas blast toll mounts to 4

A woman and her daughter, who sustained burn injuries in a blast following leakage of a cooking gas cylinder at Dogra Mohalla here, succumbed to their wounds today, police said.

The deceased were identified as Pooja and her twelve-year old daughter Jashan. They succumbed to their burn injuries at Guru Nanak hospital in Amritsar.

With their demise, the death toll due to the powerful gas blast has risen to four.

Pooja's son Sharan and daughter Rashmeet, aged 8 and 4 years respectively, had died on June 22, police said.

On June 21, six persons including five women were seriously injured and sustained more than 80 per cent burn injuries, when a leakage in the LPG cylinder led to a gas blast at a community kitchen at their house.
