A gas leak at an Oil India Ltd (OIL) well in Jaisalmer in Rajasthan has been detected but efforts to control the flow have so far been unsuccessful.

The highly inflammable gas started to leak from OIL well more than a week back. Efforts to control the leakage have so far been unsuccessful.

Company officials said experts have been moved to the well site to control the leak.

So far, there has been no fire and injuries reported from the leakage.

OIL produces about 70 lakh cubic meters per day of gas from its field in Jaisalmer.

The well in question produces 9,000 cubic meters per day of gas.

Officials said all efforts are being made to plug the leakage but could not give a timeframe for that.
