Gastroenteritis claims 7 more lives

Jatinder Singh Kahlon, Gopal Dass, Kal and Neeta were among those who succumbed to the disease since yesterday, official sources said.

Deputy Commissioner Abhinav Trikha visited cholera and gastroenteritis hit area of Gandhi Camp to take stock of the situation.

Civil Surgeon Vinod Beri said the district administration had constituted a team of officials of health, revenue, police and local bodies to ascertain the exact cause of deaths.

Trikha said the Punjab government had identified 274 points from where the dirty water of sewerage was mixed into water supply pipes. Besides, it had provided more than 500 new water supply connections in Gandhi Camp area.
