With 'Aayiye Meherbaan' playing in the background, model-turned-actress Gauhar Khan danced her way to the runway as designer Joy Mitra paid a tribute to 100 years of India cinema with his collection -'Abhinay' at the ongoing Wills India Fashion Week.

The cinema inspired collection was not only about actors, or a movie but the whole industry from the 1930's till today.

"With this collection I am acknowledging 100 years of Indian cinema right from the 1930's till today. I have tried to bring alive the different ears of the film industry. I had to do a lot of research for this collection. I also used this to pay a tribute to forgotten faces like Devika Rani, who was the first recipient of the Dada Saheb Phalke Award," Mitra said.

The clothes also were fun, quirky, chic. The soul of the collection was very Indian and consisted of dresses, sarees, and anarkalis.

The colour palette saw an interesting mix of black, green, maroon, red and mustard.

Songs like 'Saans' from "Jab Tak Hain Jaan", 'Suraj Hua Madham' from "Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham" played in the background as models sashayed daown the ramp, creating the perfect ambience for the Bollywood themed show.

Gauhar looked elegant in a orange lehenga teamed with a black embroidered blouse as she appeared again with Mitra to take the bow as hit item number 'Fevicol se' pepped the atmosphere.

"I love what I am wearing. Although it is layered, it is very light and wearable. I can see myself wearing this to an engagement, event or a wedding. Today is my mother's birthday but I left it to attend this show because I love his creations and was sure that he would make me look good," Gauhar said.

The actress was last seen on the big screen in "Ishaqzaade", where she played the role of dancer.
