Gauhati High Court Judge Justice Hrishikesh Roy called on Chief Minister Nabam Tuki here today and discussed various issues related to justice delivery system in Arunachal Pradesh.
The issues discussed in the meeting revolved around easy and smooth delivery of justice to the common people, separation of judiciary from the executive, recruitment of ministerial staff, establishment of jails, sensitisation on justice delivery system, construction of a permanent High Court in the state capital among others, an official release said.
Tuki assured Justice Roy that land would be allotted within a month for establishment of a High Court at Naharalagun and said the High Court building would come up with all required facilities in consultation with the High Court authorities, the release said, while welcoming the suggestion of Justice Roy for an eco-friendly building.

The process of recruiting ministerial staff for running these courts was under process, he said and requested the state government to allow the existing employees of the state who were engaged in running the courts to continue till permanent ministerial staff were recruited.
The Judge also emphasised on having a full-fledged Registrar in the Itanagar Permanent Bench of the Gauhati High Court, the release said.
On suggestions of Justice Roy, Tuki assured to enhance the intake capacity of the existing jails in the state and establish jails in all districts in the near future.
In line with modern justice delivery system, he assured facilities like video conferencing would be introduced in the jails, which would facilitate long distance hearing of proceedings.
Roy was all praises for the customary justice delivery system in the state and hailed the Gaon Bura institution, while suggesting that Gaon Buras be sent on exposure tours and sensitised on Indian laws and justice delivery.
Chief Secretary Ramesh Negi, Law Secretary Onit Panyang as well as Joint Registrars from Gauhati and Itanagar Permanent Bench High Courts were also present during the meeting, the release added.
