Young golfer Gaurika Bishnoi kept ahead of all challengers to snare the Ladies event, as well as Category A, of the Usha IGU Western India Ladies and Junior Girls Amateur Golf Championship 2014 here.

Gaurika scored four-over 75 in the third and final round of competition to aggregate 12-over 225. She was followed by Ridhima Dilawari, who returned a card of 76 to end at 229 while Seher Atwal also scored 76 but ended one stroke behind Ridhima in the final tally.

Gaurika began badly, with bogeys on the first two holes, but recovered splendidly to score birdies on the next two holes. But the rest of her first nine wasn't too good as she double bogeyed the sixth hole and then dropped another stroke on the eighth at the par-71 Poona Club Golf Course.

The return leg saw her lose strokes on the 11th, 12th, and 13th holes but she managed to recover two strokes on the 16th and 17th to keep her nose ahead of Ridhima.

Category B was won by Diksha Dagar, who returned the best round the day, a one-over 72, to end with an aggregate of 231. She was followed by Arshia Mahant (83) at 245 and Seerat Alag (86) at 258.

Category C saw the closest competition of the day, with Anika Verma beating Jahanvi Bakshi on the first play-off hole after they were tied at 243. Vasundhara Thiara and Tanishka Kumar finished tied third at 245.
