The two-term restriction was there in the constitution earlier as well but it was amended ostensibly to allow former president Dayanand Narvekar to continue in office.
Narvekar was elected as president of GCA in 1998 and enjoyed an uninterrupted stint till eleven members of the managing committee joined hands to oust him last month.
"The GCA president can be in office only for two terms for life," said GCA secretary Prasad Phaterpekar today.
The general body has also decided to do away with the provision which barred any member who had not attended two consecutive general body meetings from contesting elections.
The GCA elections are scheduled to be held on July 22.
