Goa Cricket Association (GCA) has decided to take strict action against its secretary Chetan Desai for responding to a notice issued by the state government to the cricketing body "without taking it into confidence".
The Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) had issued a showcause notice to GCA on August 28 asking why action should not be taken against the body, for allowing GCA chief Vinod Fadke, indicted among others by Justice Pendse Commission in the 2001 India-Australia 'fake-ticket scam', to participate in affairs of the body.
"The reply filed on behalf of GCA before SAG and also a petition filed by him (Desai) before the Bombay High Court for staying the investigation order (against Fadke) are unauthorised and without permission from managing committee members," said a resolution passed by GCA Managing Committee today.
The meeting chaired by senior vice-president Dr Shekhar Salkar also resolved that strict action should be taken against Desai for bypassing the managing committee and ignoring the by-laws of the association.
The managing committee also placed under suspension three of its office staff for indiscipline, insubordination, levelling false allegations on the members and rude behaviour.
GCA Joint Secretary Atul Naik said that suspended officials were not cooperating with the two-member committee appointed by the state government to investigate alleged irregularities of the cricketing body.
The meeting held today also decided to form a disciplinary committee to probe charges against the three officials.
