GDA signs pact with DMRC for Dilshad Garden-Ghaziabad metro

A Memorandum of Understanding was today signed between Ghaziabad Development Authority and Delhi Metro for the 9.41 km-long extension of metro line from Dilshad Garden to New Bus Stand in Ghaziabad, while setting 2017 as the deadline for the completion of the project.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) chief Mangu Singh and GDA Vice-Chairman Santosh Yadav signed the MoU for the project at Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) office here.

After signing the MoU, Yadav said the construction work of the project will start soon and it will be completed till June 2017.

This is the second phase of Metro project in Ghaziabad being carried out by GDA and DMRC.
 

The line over an elevated section on GT Road, which is expected to cater to more than one lakh commuters, will provide improved connectivity to Delhi for residents of Shahid Nagar, Shalimar Garden, Raj Nagar, Raj Nagar Extension, Siyani, Mohan Nagar and Arthala areas of Ghaziabad.

The Dilshad Garden-New Bus Stand Metro line will have seven stations -- Shahid Nagar, Raj Bagh, Rajendra Nagar, Shyam Park, Mohan Nagar, Arthala and New Bus Adda.

The cost of the project is estimated to be around Rs 1,770 crore. Major share of the cost, Rs 1,116 crore, will be borne by GDA, Ghaziabad Nagar Nigam (GNN), Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (UPSIDC) and UP Housing and Development Board, while rest of the amount will be contributed by the Central government.
