Press Trust of India Ghaziabad
Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), in joint venture with Nagar Nigam Ghaziabad (NNG), is planning to construct 1,000 affordable LIG and MIG homes in the city on encroached government land.

The authorities will identify encroached government land and get them vacated, and build the flats, costing about Rs 30 lakh, Municipal commissioner R K Singh said today.

The district administration is continuously getting complaints regarding colonisation on government lands by mafias in villages of Akbarpur, Behrampur, Raispur and Mainapur, Pasonda and Arthala, he said.

The land to be recovered from clutches of mafias ad measures about 57,000 sqm, Singh said, adding that the scheme may be launched before Holi festival.

The net proceeds from the sale of flats will be shared between GDA and NNG on 60:40 ratio, GDA sources said.
