US-based diversified group GE today launched a digital wind farm and its wind mill 2.3-116, which offers 30 per cent more gross annual energy production over its predecessor.
"The Digital Wind Farm solution is a dynamic, connected and adaptable wind energy ecosystem that leverages big data and analytics and pairs a world-class turbine with a digital infrastructure This in turn enhances production, reduces cost and boosts availability and productivity over the life of the wind farm," the company said in a statement.
According to statement, launch signifies the beginning of an important phase in technological innovations for the renewable energy market in India.

The company said that the Digital Wind Farm leverages the Industrial Internet and GE's Predix platform to improve asset performance, optimise operations and enhance business performance.
Henkel to provide solar panels to villages in Maharashtra * An arm of Henkel AG & Co. KGaA, Henkel Adhesive Technologies India Pvt Ltd today said that it will provide solar panels to villages in Maharashra under its CSR project 'Lighting Lives'.
"This project, which is in line with the global Sustainability Strategy for 2030, aims to provide electricity to villages in Maharashtra by installing solar panels," the company said in a press release.
This initiative, currently in the pilot phase, has seen installation of solar cells in three villages situated in the Palghar district of Maharashtra.
The company said it has also reached the interim targets of its Sustainability strategy, setting new milestones for 2020 and published its 25th Sustainability Report.
