Gecko reptiles recovered from train in Assam

Six endangered Gecko reptiles were recovered from a passenger train by Railway Police today, GRPF officials said.

The reptiles were recovered from Lumding bound up Agartala Express this morning, GRPF OC in Lower Haflong station Amar Jhon said.

A team of railway police was on routine duty and found two abandoned carton in the three-tier coach of the train and on opening them, six reptiles were found inside two boxes, he said.

Later, the police handed over the Geckos to the Forest Department officials, he said, adding, that police is conducting further investigation into the incident.
