Congress leader Ashok Gehlot is being sidelined in his party therefore he was levelling baseless allegations on the Raje government to be in limelight, a state cabinet minister said today.

Hitting out at the former Chief Minister's accusations that the Vasundhara Raje government was failing to act against rampant corruption in various departments despite having knowledge about it, the state Parliamentary Affairs Minister Rajendra Rathore said that Gehlot was making such accusations to be in the limelight.

"Gehlot is sidelined and neglected by (Congress vice president) Rahul Gandhi and PCC President Sachin Pilot. He is levelling baseless allegations of phone taping just to remain in news," Rathore said in a statement here.

Congress lost elections in his leadership in the state so his party high command is unhappy with him, he said.

Earlier in the day, Gehlot in a press conference had cornered the state government over the issue of corruption and alleged taping of phones of elected public representatives and officers.
