Gehlot demands revising of compensation to martyrs' kin

Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot today demanded that the compensation packages given to martyrs' families in the state be revised by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.

Gehlot in a statement said that the Uttar Pradesh government has announced a financial assistance of Rs 30 lakh for Kupwara attack martyr Captain Ayush Yadav and the Rajasthan government should also consider a fresh package of the soldiers lay their lives in the line of duty.

He said that the former Congress regime in the state government had announced a package for Kargil martyrs in 1999 which was appreciated across the country.

"17 years have passed and now the government should consider a fresh package," he said.
