Fears cost overrun, says burden will be borne by the people

Press Trust of India Jaipur
Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot today expressed concern over the delay in completing the work of a refinery and the city metro, the two most significant projects of the state.

"From Rajasthan's economic, social and political point of view, Gehlot has said that to keep pending the work of the refinery will not be right," an official statement said here.

Gehlot said the delay in completing the refinery will increase the cost involved in it which will directly affect the people in the state, it said.

"We have been successful in increasing the 4.5-metric-tonne refinery to 9 metric tonnes. This project has been at the top of our agenda," the statement said.

Commenting on the delay in the work of metro rail in the city, Gehlot said the state government must speed up its work as people of Rajasthan have been waiting eagerly to avail the metro services.

"The state government must take both these projects - the refinery and the metro - on priority and take steps to ensure their speedy completion for the benefit of the state," it said.
