Gehlot, Pilot slam Vasundhara Raje govt at Cong's 'Sankalp Rally'

Rajasthan Congress chief Sachin Pilot today accused Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje of betraying the huge mandate that people of the state had given to her party in the last Assembly elections in 2013.

He also targeted the BJP over unemployment, law and order and other issues.

"The chief minister is taking out a Gaurav Yatra to save her chair. She did not fulfil promises made before the 2013 Assembly polls and betrayed the huge mandate people had given to her government," Pilot said addressing a 'Sankalp Rally' in Churu district today.

Accusing the BJP government in the state of mismanagement in dealing with issues of women's safety, farmers' suicide and unemployment, Pilot said there was a huge resentment against the government among all sections of the society.

 

Rising petrol and diesel prices reflect anti-people policies of the government, he claimed.

Refuting allegations of his party's involvement in a stone-pelting incident on the chief minister's cavalcade during in the Jodhpur division, Pilot said the Congress firmly believes in the 'non-violence principle' of Mahatma Gandhi.

"Stone pelting on the CM cavalcade was an unfortunate incident and is highly condemnable. Those involved should be brought to book," he said adding that the policy of "blaming Congress for sympathy votes" will not work.

Former chief minister Ashok Gehlot said that unlike the BJP, the Congress contributed immensely in the freedom movement and development of the country.

It is unfortunate that the BJP is cursing the Congress despite having its government in the state for 18 out of the last 28 years, the senior Congress leader said.

Gehlot exuded confidence that people of the state were with the Congress and would vote it to power in the Assembly elections due by the year end.

Congress' Rajasthan in-charge Avinash Pande said the BJP government had violated democratic rights of the people whereas Congress had forced the saffron party to roll back anti-people decisions by raising their voice at all platforms.
