Gehlot seeks IFC's expertise in water-related issues

Gehlot said that the IFC should work on finding a long term solution, through a detailed study, to come up with affordable solutions for water-related issues in the state especially for Jodhpur which is facing the problem of rising ground water level.

The IFC, which is the private investment arm of the World Bank, during a meeting here, was also requested to focus on financing some upcoming big entrepreneurs in the state, according to an official spokesperson.

A delegation of the IFC led by its CEO Jin Yong Cai met Gehlot at his official residence where they discussed in detail about the cooperation agreement which was signed by Industries Department of the state government with IFC (Knowledge Partners)in September 2010 for improving the industrial and investment climate of the state.

 

The delegation expressed their satisfaction at the progress made by the 'Knowledge Partnership' in the last two years in the areas of statutory reforms and improvement in the investment climate to increase private investment opportunities in the state, he said.

The state Industry minister Rajendra Pareek during the meeting discussed the issues relating to ceramic sector and recent discovery of gas in the state.

IFC's Vice President (Asia-Pacific) Karin Finkelston and senior officials of the state government were also present during the meeting.
