Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot today accused the Vasundhara Raje-led BJP government in the state of "betraying" the youth on its promise of creating 15 lakh jobs during election time and alleged that its skill development programme was "an eyewash to hide its own failure".
He accused the government on the social media of failing to provide jobs as promised and demanded an allowance for students enrolled in the skill development programme.
"Skill Development is just a time buying tactic to prolong the duration of fulfilling the promise to create jobs. An unemployed youth, who enrols for skill development, would wait to apply for a job until he finishes the programme. This actually stretches the time of his unemployability," Gehlot wrote on his facebook wall.
"The State Government has finished half term out of its five year mandate and now it should release figures, how many new jobs have been created so far out of its promise of 15 lacs?
If the State Government is serious about the economic hardships faced by the unemployed youth, it should immediately start giving a fixed allowance to the youth, who enroll for Skill Development Programmes. The allowance should continue for the duration of training and until the person gets a job," he demanded.
